BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts has officially canceled development on redesigning Anthem in hopes to revitalize the online shooter. The game will remain as it is currently and the studio will retain the live service for the game.

Anthem is receiving a complete overhaul on how you will play the game. How long will it take? No clear date was given or details of what exactly will be changed. But Casey Hudson had this to say in their focus on the game’s redesign.

Although Anthem did not perform well in terms of physical sales – it shifted a mere half of the boxed units that Mass Effect Andromeda sold in the same launch period in 2017 – it did much better in digital sales.

Anthem tops the UK sales chart but is off to a slow start

Early impressions and reviews have gone live for Anthem and it’s generally a mixed bag for Bioware’s latest epic.

“N7 means coming into the studio every day, dreaming about what the next great Mass Effect game will be," says Casey Hudson, general manager at Bioware.

Anthem’s PAX 2018 trailer talks about the story, and the characters you’ll grow to learn as you explore the world Bioware has created.

“Already EA is trying to assure us its next big game is as appealing as can be: there will be no loot boxes or pay for power advantages, only paid cosmetics.”

"We need to delight players with new experiences and innovation, but we must stay focused on the importance of the world, character, and storytelling elements that players expect from our games."
