Capcom Celebrates Street Fighter 6's First Filipino Character With a Local Tournament
Street Fighter 6 is entering its fourth year, which will introduce four new characters, starting with Yasmine, the series' first Filipino character, launching on August 3. To celebrate her launch, Capcom is hosting a community tournament in the Philippines.
Street Fighter 6 'Yasmine' Community Event
The event will take place on August 9, 2026 at Salud! by Primera Bar & Restaurant in Makati, Metro Manila. Doors open at 2PM, featuring a Street Fighter 6 tournament followed by community giveaways, photo ops with cosplayers, free play sessions with the game and a space for the local fighting game community to hang out and connect.
Here’s what you can expect from the event:
2:00 PM: Doors Open, Player Check-in, Controller Button Checks, and Free Play Warmups
3:00 PM – 3:15 PM: Welcome Speech & Official Street Fighter 6 Yasmine Gameplay Showcase
3:15 PM – 5:00 PM: Tournament Pools
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Top 8 Finals (Main Stage Broadcast) & Prize Presentation Ceremony for Champion, 2nd and 3rd Placements.
6:30 PM – 7:00 PM: Premium Community Giveaways, Group Photo Ops, and Closing Remarks
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Free Play and Community Networking
As for the tournament itself, it will follow a double-elimination bracket format, with matches played best-of-3 until the top 8, which will shift to best-of-5. This is also an invite-only tournament.
Admission is limited to venue capacity and will be strictly first-come, first-served.
The event will also be live-streamed on Capcom Asia’s official Youtube channel and Enduins, a local channel in the Philippines.
Yasmine will be the first Year 4 character released, followed by Arjun, Bosch from Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode, and Final Fantasy VII's Tifa.
Here’s how Capcom describes Yasmine:
“Hailing from the Philippines, Yasmine learned how to fight alongside her Kuya (older brother)under the guidance of her Lolo (grandfather). Following the sudden disappearance of her brother, Yasmine put down her Karambit knife until FooTube videos of a certain French supermodel inspired her to cut a path to her lost sibling. On her journey of discovery, Yasmine will use various high-speed Eskrima techniques.”
