Indie Game En Garde! Announced at 2023 Future Games Show Summer Showcase
Indie French studio Fireplace Games revealed their new game En Garde! during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase. The silly action-adventure game is set to release on PC this August and a playable demo of the game is already available on Steam.
In En Garde! you play as Adalia de Volador, a swashbuckling hero that battles tyranny in a whimsical vision of the 17th century. Players can use trickery by using the various interactable objects in the area to get an advantage and use their acrobatic skills to navigate through the battle when facing multiple foes. With enough flair during combat, players can fill up the Panache Meter to dish out special skills as the game encourages players to improvise with what’s available to them in the world as well as parry, and riposte to get an advantage.
En Garde! was originally an award-winning student project with the same name and is now supported by Kowloon Nights. This independent gaming fund assisted other titles such as Sifu, Tchia, Scorn, and Roller Drome.
En Garde! is set to release through Steam sometime in August 2023.
