Horizon Forbidden West delayed to February 2022, also coming to the PS4

Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn is officially delayed until February 18, 2022. Sony made the announcement through an official blog post and also confirming that the sequel will be available on the PS4.

The game was expected to make a release during the end of 2021 when it was first announced but as we got closer it was feeling more unlikely, especially when PlayStation Studio head Hermen Hulst said in an interview that Forbidden West was “on track to release this holiday season. But that isn’t quite certain yet, and we’re working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can.”

But the announcement also comes with good news as the Horizon Zero Dawn 60 fps patch for the PS5 is now live and free for all players that have a copy of the game.

In case you missed it, Guerilla Games showcased gameplay footage of Horizon Forbidden West in a State of Play digital presentation back in May, but we have yet to see gameplay footage of the sequel running on the PS4 as it would be interesting to see the difference between the two versions.

With Horizon Forbidden West now a 2022 title together with the God of War sequel, this makes Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal the PS5 exclusive titles that makes use of the new hardware found on the PlayStation 5.

For those unfamiliar, Horizon Forbidden West continues Aloy’s journey in understanding the world now ruled by mechanical creatures and uncovering the secrets of a lost civilization. It’s an open world game created by Killzone creators Guerilla Games and the first game was free back in March through Sony’s Play at Home initiative back in March. Horizon Zero Dawn is now also available on PC.

Pre-orders for Horizon Forbidden West will be available starting September 2 and we should expect more information in the coming weeks.
