Fallout 4 Is Getting a Free Update on April 25, Which Adds 60 FPS, Increased Resolutions, and More

Bethesda has announced that they are releasing a free update for Fallout 4, which adds native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game and other features even for those looking for another reason to dive back in on PC.

Current-gen consoles get a native version of the game, adding a Performance Mode and Quality mode graphical setting, allowing players to set up higher resolution and set the game to 60 fps, respectively. The update also has a few surprises for those on PS4 and Xbox One as the update includes additional stability and fixes for the game.

As for PC, players will get widescreen and ultra-widescreen support from this update. There are also a few fixes to the Creation Kit feature of the game as well as a variety of quest updates.

Bethesda also announced that Fallout 4 will now be available on Epic Games store and that those with a Steam Deck will be pleased to hear that the RPG is now Steam Deck verified.

Together with the release of the new free update, Bethesda will also be releasing the following free Creation Club items:

The surprise free update to Fallout 4, a game released in 2015, is not much of a surprise as it fits right into the release of Amazon and Bethesda’s live-action TV series Fallout, which the whole first season is now available on Prime Video to all that are subscribed to the streaming service.

The Fallout tv series has been given nothing but praise since its release as it currently sits at a 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating with even an 85% audience score as of April 12, 2024. Many are already calling the series one of the best video game adaptations ever released.
