Elden Ring Nightreign Update Adds Free Deep of Night Mode

FromSoftware adds the free Deep of Night mode to Elden Ring Nightreign, bringing new relics, weapon enhancements, and tougher challenges.

FromSoftware has rolled out a free update for its standalone multiplayer-focused co-op action RPG Elden Ring Nightreign. The new Deep of Night mode goes live today, offering a tougher challenge for veterans along with fresh gameplay mechanics through weapon enhancements and Depths Relics.

What to Expect in Deep of Night Mode

The Deep of Night mode is designed for seasoned players looking for a more punishing experience. One major twist: you won’t know which boss awaits at the end of a match. This forces players to prepare flexible builds that can adapt to any encounter.

New Weapon Enhancements and Depths Relics

During Deep of Night matches, tougher enemies appear and may drop weapons carrying unique enhancements exclusive to the mode. These modifiers come with both benefits and drawbacks, pushing players to take risks for powerful new tools.

The update also introduces Depths Relics, items that can only be earned and equipped in Deep of Night. These relics grant passive skills not found in the base game. To support them, players gain three additional relic slots, enabling even wilder build possibilities and customization.

Elden Ring Nightreign has been out for months, and it’s good to see Bandai Namco and FromSoftware continue to support this multiplayer spin-off. However, Deep of Night mainly expands existing systems rather than adding entirely new content. Fans are still waiting for bigger updates, such as new characters, bosses, or even map expansions.

For now, Deep of Night should keep dedicated veterans engaged, but many will be hoping FromSoftware has more ambitious updates planned in the future.

I was skeptical at first when Nightreign was announced, but I was surprised to find myself enjoying FromSoftware’s solid attempt at delivering a multiplayer-focused Elden Ring game, as I gave it a 4/5.
