Bethesda Partners with Renowned Filipino Artist for DOOM: The Dark Ages-Inspired Artwork

Bethesda has commissioned renowned Filipino artist John Patrick Gañas to create an original art piece inspired by DOOM: The Dark Ages, and the final result (Shown above) is awesome, to say the least.

"The piece centers around The Doom Slayer living up to his name as he stands atop his enemies," explains Gañas. "Atlan and Serrat tower behind, both designed as an extension of the Slayer's looming, overwhelming silhouette of power."

The artwork showcases Gañas' signature style, blending intricate details with bold silhouettes and a gritty aesthetic. "I'm glad I get to revisit my love for maximalism and bold silhouettes with this piece," Gañas. added. "The gritty tone was the perfect excuse to do as I pleased."

His work has been out for just a few days, but it looks like his followers agree on how amazing his take on the Doom world.

This isn’t Gañas’ first video game-inspired work either. A quick glance at his Instagram reveals a collection of striking pieces. Recent works are his take on Street Fighter's Akuma to League of Legends artwork, heavily influenced by the visual style of Arcane, the animated series based on Riot's universe.

DOOM: The Dark Ages has been out for a few weeks now, and it’s a bold, refreshing spin on the franchise. Its “stand your ground” approach to combat delivers that same adrenaline-pumping energy seen in past titles, and for me, it paid off. It was an easy 4.5/5 when I reviewed it back in May.

Doom: The Dark Ages is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.
