A Player Has Already Reached Level 100 in Diablo IV on Hardcore Mode, Before Official Launch

Blizzard’s next action RPG Diablo IV is live and is set to officially launch on June 6, but someone has already achieved one of the biggest achievements in the game — reaching the max level of 100 in Hardcore mode. Twitch streamer cArn_ did it during the 4-day early access of the game, less than a day before the game went live.

It’s a crazy feat but required hours and hours of grinding from the moment servers went live on June 1.

For those unaware, Hardcore mode is a punishing game mode in which if your character dies, it stays dead. You only have one life in this mode, and a Twitch streamer cArn_ is the first player to reach level 100 on Diablo IV with his Barbarian.

You can see the moment his Barbarian hit level 100 below.

That means he will be one of the players to be immortalized by Blizzard as the company plans to engrave the Battle.net IDs of the first 1,000 players to reach level 100 in hardcore mode on a large statue of Lilith, the game’s main antagonist. This is the biggest incentive as to why many players have started their journey through Diablo IV in such a punishing game mode.

Though Blizzard has yet to officially announce cArn_’s achievement to be the first player to reach level 100 in hardcore in public, the community is watching the race carefully to the point that they set up a website called d4race.com to keep track of streamers attempting the challenge.

How did he do it? A lot of planning before Diablo IV’s early access launch, tons of action RPG knowledge, and a coordinated team. CArn_ played the game on Hardcore with three other players, Zizaran, COCOBEAR, and Steelmage, players/streamers also taking the hardcore challenge together. They are not only teaming up to clear dungeons more efficiently but also benefiting from the experience bonus for doing content as a group.

CArn_ ran the Barbarian class with a build focused on the Whirlwind skill, a Diablo classic.

As a group, they grinded the same dungeons over and over while making sure they don’t die in the process. They are also using a trick to boost more experience gains and it involves the lead player leaving the party while in a dungeon, which triggers the dungeon reset.

It’s an impressive achievement as Blizzard stated that reaching level 100 would take roughly around 150 hours to achieve.  Well, it seems like you can cut a few corners as this was achieved in less than four days, before the game officially launched, even.

Based on the website d4race, cArn_ will not be the only hardcore character to reach level 100 as there are currently over 10 people above level 90 as of this writing.

Diablo IV officially launches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on June 6, 2023.
