Ubisoft To Open A Studio Here In The Philippines

Big things are happening in the video game industry here. Ubisoft is going to be the first major publisher to make a studio in the Philippines.

Ubisoft announced Ubisoft Philippines to be their next studio in the South East Asia region during a press launch at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati. The new studio will be located on the campus of De La Salle University in Santa Rosa Laguna and plans to open during the second half of 2016 and hopes to hire 50 employees on its first year. The new team will focus on the collaboration of development of Ubisoft's AAA titles.

With industry veterans from the Singapore studio helping out, Ubisoft plans to provide high quality training for the new recruits. The team will also benefit from the collaborative learning platforms and events implemented throughout the Ubisoft network.

Ubisoft is also partnering with De La Salle University to produce two new undergraduate courses: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Major in Game Development beginning Academic Year 2017-2018, and Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing beginning Academic Year 2018-2019. Both programs will be housed at the DLSU Science and Technology Complex in Laguna.
