First look at Max Payne 3's muliplayer

Rockstar just released the first video of a new video series that introduces Max Payne 3's multiplayer, and it look pretty damn good.  It talks about the multiplayer's core features - Gang Wars, Payne Killer, and integrating Max Payne's famous bullet time into multiplayer.

Gang Wars is said to be a battle between the faction in Max Payne 3. It's story driven with objectives changing depending on the outcome of each match.  While in Payne Killer, two lucky players get to play as Max Payne himself and his partner  Raul Passos in the game as they go against waves of enemy players Max Payne style.

What I found very interesting is that they were able to add bullet time into multiplayer. Bullet Time is Max Payne's signature move that gives him the option to slow down time to better pick off enemies and dodge bullets. For multiplayer, when someone activates Bullet Time, only players in his line of sight will be engaged in Bullet Time. It is said in the video that Bullet Time is one of the burst abilities available to players, meaning there will be other abilities to be revealed that would suit your play style.

It's looking pretty good, it's Rockstar after all. When I heard Red Dead Redemption will have an open world multiplayer, I didn't think it was possible but it actually works and turned out fun. Now they added multiplayer on Max Payne without leaving Bullet Time behind.

This is the first video if the video series that talks all about multiplayer, so look out for the next few videos in the future.

Gamers have interesting game choices this month. Max Payne 3 comes out on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 May 15 and PC on May 29.

Max Payne 3 multiplayer confirmed

The latest issue of UK publication EDGE magazine is featuring Max Payne 3 in their next issue giving a lot of interesting information about this bullet-time crazy third person shooter. To start things off they confirmed Max Payne 3 will have it's very own online multilayer. Max Payne has always been considered a Single Player experience and this will be a first for the series.There is no other information about its online multiplayer and i can't seem to imagine how it would play out.

The front image starting the article about Max Payne in the issue shows Max Payne messed up but not bald. Pictures of Max Payne 3 was shown a few months back showing a bald and fat Max Payne but now we see him in  a different look. It could be possible too that in the progression of the story Max changes but nothing is yet certain. One thing that's confirmed is that the game's setting is set in Sao Paolo,Brazil.

Max Payne 3 is being developed by the famous Rockstar games and this title is apparently a collaborative effort between four different Rockstar studios in the world. While Rockstar Vancouver is still in charge of developing the game, Rockstar New England, London, and Toronto studios are involved in the project.

“We have a lot of talented people across all our studios,” said MP3′s art director, Rob Nelson, “and this just means we can bring the right people in for a specific task when needed – and it gives the games a consistent level of quality and an approach that’s Rockstar.”

New features about the game include destructible environments, a wheel-based weapon selection window, a new cover system and the famous bullet time will now be charged up by killing enemies.

They have done hundreds of motion capture recorded using Euphoria Engine to make their characters interact with the environments realistically.

In addition, The original voice of Max Payne, James McCafferty, is confirmed to return to voice for Max Payne 3.

So it looks like there's a lot of interesting changes happening in Max Payne 3. The Max Payne series was always an "ok" series for me so I was never excited for the third. But with Rockstar now doing all the work including development I have high hopes for the third game. Rockstar has proved over and over again that they can make amazing games. They have been taking risks with their games nowadays and it's been paying off recently giving gamers something unique. Only time will tell if Max Payne will be in the same caliber as their previous games.

Max Payne 3 will be released on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. A released date is yet to be announced.
