The Last of Us Part 1 Review - Post-apocalyptic Facelift
Everything I loved about the first game is intact, now with a visual uplift and a few enhancements. But the changes in The Last of Us Part 1 didn’t greatly enhance the finer points of this masterpiece, to an extent that I wouldn’t recommend this release right off the gate.
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course Review - Wicked, Wacky, and Wonderful
The Delicious Last Course feels like a completion of the ideas introduced in Cuphead rather than an evolution of the run-and-gun platforming gameplay, which will definitely delight and satisfy hardcore fans of the original classic title.
Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed Review - Annihilation Never Looked So Good
Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed is a gorgeous, fun-filled, and lovingly-designed follow-up, as well as a superb remaster, of a cult classic game. Even though its cargo is starting to show its age, Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed has enough in the cockpit to soar above the galaxy… and blast it to smithereens.
Saints Row (2022) Review - fresh chapter, same kind of crazy
The new Saints Row is Volition's way of saying that the series is back and that they have not forgotten why they’ve been able to release four mainline titles with this amount of silliness in the past. The essence of the Saints Row series is intact, just slightly altered to fit modern tastes. It’s just unfortunate to not see drastic changes to the game’s core systems like combat, which could have propelled the series to new heights.
Way of the Hunter Review - A Struggle Through the Wild
Way of the Hunter is a hunting simulator that aims at delivering a realistic wildlife hunting experience. The name of the game is patience, as any sudden movement can ruin an opportunity for a clean kill. It’s tough, but the pivot to realism in the game’s hunting mechanics makes each success more satisfying and exhilarating when you’re in the thick of it. There’s just a couple of things that get in this hunter’s way.
Stray Review - Cat Scratch Fever
Likable characters, a rich world, and smart situations designed for being a cat do the heavy lifting here in Stray, leaving the player with an impression that lingers on well after you’ve finished the game, making this a title that will easily stand out in the crowded gaming landscape for years to come.
Outriders Worldslayer Review - Altered, but Not Perfected
Outriders Worldslayer doesn’t answer all of the game’s main problems. This isn’t new content that will entice new players, but will rather sustain the game’s current fans. Players new to the game will still have to determine if the Outriders formula is for them, as Worldslayer doesn’t improve the new player experience.
The Quarry Review - An Entertaining Night of Horrors
There isn’t anything groundbreaking in The Quarry if you’ve played Until Dawn or any of the Dark Anthology games, but Supermassive games definitely delivered the best and most accessible version of the formula they are known for.
Sifu Review - A martial arts melee for the ages
Sifu is the perfect representation of why the martial arts genre is so beloved by many and tackled through various mediums through the years. The amount of detail in the moves shown in this game empowers the player, making you feel like you can take on the world.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising review - Errand adventures
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising has enough charm to keep me engaged with its story and gameplay, despite having a bunch of design choices that just didn’t work.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands review - Roll for more Loot
On paper, it’s more Borderlands shooting and looting goodness with a high-fantasy twist, but also a reminder that there’s still a good amount of charm that can be found in this well-established series. If this is the direction the series will be going in the future, I’m all for it.
Gran Turismo 7 review - A Michelin star feast for car aficionados
Gran Turismo 7 checks all of the boxes of what would be expected from a palatable Gran Turismo game, but has some questionable design choices that weigh it down. With Gran Turismo Café leading the way, this is the most approachable GT game to newcomers, whether in the series, or of car racing in general.
