Valor Mortis Delayed to Avoid Crowded September, Now Out in October 13

Developer One More Level (Ghostrunner) and publisher Lyrical Games, who recently announced their new game Valor Mortis, are delaying the game simply because its initial September 24 release date has seemingly become very crowded, forcing them to push it back to October 13.

It's a great-looking new IP. A first-person action "soulslike" that, when it was revealed at the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, was given a September release date. The developer and its publisher seemingly didn't anticipate how crowded the end of September 2026 would be.

"We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallets) some room to breathe," the developers wrote in an X post, and these are the games that are planning to come out around their original release date:

  • The Blood of the Dawnwalker (Sept 3)

  • Valheim full launch (Sept 9)

  • Marvel's Wolverine (Sept 15)

  • Runescape: Dragonwilds (Sept 15)

  • Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave (Sept 17)

  • Control: Resonant (Sept 24)

  • Silent Hill: Townfall (Sept 24)

  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword (Sept 25)

  • Minecraft Dungeons (Sept 29)

Just looking at the week of their original release date, it's brutal for a completely new IP. If they didn’t this move, they would clearly go against stiff competition for people's attention, to say the least.

September and October are going to be the busiest months of 2026. Funnily enough, there's no other major release joining Grand Theft Auto VI in November, which is one of the major reasons these upcoming months are looking so cramped.
