The Power Cosmic Is the December 2022 Season for Marvel Snap, Series 4 and 5 announced

The folks at Second Dinner Studios just announced the December 2022 season for their recently released online card game Marvel Snap and it’s called The Power Cosmic, which adds the new card Silver Surfer, a Token Shop, and introduces two new set of cards - Series 4 and Series 5.

Marvel Snap December 2022 Season - The Power Cosmic

The Power Cosmic season focuses on the cosmic characters in the Marvel universe and the new card joining Marvel Snap in the new season is Silver Surfer, which comes in as a 3 cost, 0 power card that reads: On Reveal: Give your other 3-cost cards +3 power. New variants coming this season will be for cards The Infinaut and the Collector. They didn’t reveal how the Season Pass rewards will look like this season just yet but expect a similar rundown as previous seasons.

Marvel Snap Token Shop

The December 2022 season will also include the Token Shop, the developer’s answer to players hoping to unlock specific cards they want. When the season goes live, Collector Tokens will be a new resource that you can unlock as you go higher in your Collection Level and can be used in the Token Shop to purchase the card featured at that given time. The Token Shop features only one card that you can buy and rotates a new card every eight hours. A cool feature is the ability to pin the card you want, in case you don’t have enough Collector Tokens to make the purchase.

They did not mention if Collector Tokens are only obtainable through the Collection Level progression system. All players that are at least over Collection Level 500 will earn 3,000 Collector Tokens for free when the Token Shop goes live. If you’re higher in the Collection Level, you’ll earn more.

All cards featured in the new Token Shop will feature Series 3 (pool 3) cards and up.

Series 4 and 5 cards announced

They also introduced Series 4 and Series 5 cards. Series 4 will have ten new cards to collect while Series 5 will have six new cards. Unlike the first three series of cards, you do not have to collect all Series 3 cards to slowly start earning Series 4 and 5 cards. Once you start earning Series 3 cards, there’s a chance you might get a card from the new series though they say it’s going to be rare.

Here’s the Series 4 and 5 cards announced:

Series 4

  • Luke Cage (2-cost, 1 power) - Ongoing: Your cards can’t have their Power reduced

  • Absorbing Man (4-cost, 3 power) - On Reveal: IF the last card you played has an On Reveal ability, this card copies it.

  • She-Hulk (6-cost, 10 power) - Costs 1 less for each unspent Energy last turn.

  • Titania (1-cost, 5 power) - When ANY card is played at this location, this card switches sides

  • Maria Hill (2-cost, 3 power) - On Reveal: Add a random 1-cost card to your hand

  • Agent Coulson (3-cost, 4 power) - On Reveal: Add a random 4-cost and 5-cost card to your hand

  • Helicarrier (6-cost, 10 power) - When you discard this from your hand, add 3 random cards to your hand

  • M’Baku (1-cost, 2 power) - If this is in your deck at the end of the game, it jumps to a random location

  • Attuma (4-cost, 10 power) - If you have another card here at the end of your turn, destroy this

  • Orka (6-cost, 9 power) - Ongoing: +5 power if this is your only card here

Series 5

  • Bast (1-cost, 1 power) - On Reveal: Set the power of all cards in your hand to 3

  • Galactus (6-cost, 3 power) - On Reveal: If this is your only card here, destroy all other locations

  • Shuri (4-cost, 2 power) - On Reveal: Double the power of the next card you play

  • Thanos (6-cost, 8 power) - At the start of the game, shuffle the six Infinity Stones into your deck

  • Valkyrie (5-cost, 3 power) - On Reveal: Set ALL cards at this location to 3 power

  • Super Skrull (4-cost, 2 power) - Ongoing: Has the Ongoing effects of all enemy cards

A big season for the new online card game with Token being a great addition considering players now playing for a long time are indeed struggling to get that one particular series 3 card to complete the deck they’ve always wanted to play.

There’s still a few more weeks left in the Warriors of Wakanda season, which features Black Panther himself, which is proving to be a solid card to pair up a few cards with it.
