Nintendo Switch 2 Launches in the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore on June 26
/Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand on June 26, 2025. While no pricing details have been announced, the company quietly updated its regional websites and followed up with a formal announcement on social media.
The rest of the world, including Japan, is still set to receive the Switch 2 on June 5. Initially, Southeast Asia was given a vague July–September release window, so this early June launch comes as a welcome surprise.
No Pricing Yet for the Console or Bundles
Aside from the updated release date, Nintendo has yet to provide local pricing for the console, its Mario Kart World bundle, or physical game copies in these regions.
This leaves consumers in a bit of a gray area, especially as pre-orders begin to surface.
Pre-Orders Now Open in the Philippines
Shortly after the announcement, local retailers in the Philippines began accepting pre-orders for the Switch 2, even without an official suggested retail price. Most require a PHP 5,000 down payment to secure a unit.
From experience, this kind of blind pre-order comes with risks. When the PlayStation 5 launched five years ago, supply shortages created chaos. Pre-order slots were filled within seconds, and retailers had to open multiple waves across several months, most of which sold out instantly.
Don’t Expect Guaranteed Day-One Units
While placing a pre-order might feel like a guaranteed ticket to a launch-day console, the reality is that limited stock will likely be an issue.
Retailers may prioritize early buyers, but with no concrete pricing and limited inventory, there's no guarantee you'll have a Switch 2 in-hand on June 26. I hope i’m wrong of course, but it’s very unlikely as I expect a shortage to happen on June 5.
And let’s not forget the ever-present threat of scalpers.
Still, it’s great to see Nintendo bringing the Switch 2 to Southeast Asia much earlier than expected. The region is often overlooked or delayed in global releases, so this is a rare win.
Just be smart with your money, especially when no final price has been revealed yet.
