Capcom has finally removed Denuvo DRM from Resident Evil Village

After two years since Resident Evil Village launched, it looks like Capcom has suddenly removed Denuvo, the anti-piracy software on Steam’s PC version of the game. It’s a quiet removal, similar to how they handled their previous games with the software.

The removal was first reported by Dark Side of Gaming, which is confirmed by Steamdb soon after.

Why the sudden removal? No one knows but the removal is a welcome change even though it took them years after release. Hopefully, with this change, the performance of the PC version is far better before the software’s removal.

This is a common practice for the company in their biggest titles on the PC platform. Resident Evil 2 remake, Resident Evil 3 remake, and even Monster Hunter World launched with the same anti-piracy software, giving some players issues. Denuvo was eventually removed from these games in the future.

The recently released Resident Evil 4 remake on PC also features Denuvo, and players are reporting issues due to the software. With regards to the latest remake, it’s doing fairly well and I too enjoyed this version as it was an easy 9/10 and is a must-play for any Resident Evil fan.
