PSN Restoration has begun

Sony has just announced that restoration of the Playstation Network has begun, they have released a system update for us to download which pretty much allows you to change your password. This is the first phase and they will be going country by country beginning with the US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East. Sadly, japan and the rest of asia is not included in the first phase of restoration and will be announced soon.

Whats the first phase in restoration? the first phase includes:

  • Sign-in for PlayStation®Network and Qriocity services, including the resetting of passwords
  • Restoration of online game-play across PS3 and PSP
  • Playback rental video content, if within rental period, of PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service on PS3, PSP and MediaGo
  • Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity, for current subscribers, on PS3 and PC
  • Access to 3rd party services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and MLB.tv
  •  'Friends' category on PS3, including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc
  • PlayStation Home"

The PSN restoration was first announced on their PlaystationBlog and Kazuo Hirai has given a video announcement about the restoration.

They will be announcing what will be inside their Welcome Back package in a few days. Take note though, they mention that it will be different for each region. With the number of days it took Sony to get things working again, i don't think their welcome back package will be enough but it's better than nothing i guess.

It's slowly coming back so people who hasn't thrown their PS3 out the window, start downloading the new system update now. I have the system update installed but so far it still says it's under maintenance. I guess the first phase is still underway so we'll have to wait just a little bit longer to get some online action. Will update this post for any new development.

Has any of you accessed PSN after the system update?

Sequel to Warhawk announced

Remember Warhawk? that multiplayer third person shooter with vehicle and flight combat? well, after countless rumors, they have officially announced the sequel to Warhawk and it's called Starhawk. It looks like a completely different game all together. It's still a third person shooter with vehicles just like the last game but their adding mechs, transforming fighter jets and some RTS elements into the mix.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb1Ee7awZes&feature=channel_video_title]

Warhawk was one of the first games to implement the Sixaxis in their gameplay. by default, you control your vehicles by tilting your Sixaxis controller in different directions rather than the more conventional methods of using the analog stick or d-pad. For Starhawk, they won't be implementing the Sixaxis like last game since they feel that it doesn't fit their game.

The Sixaxis feature is almost non-existent to most PS3 game out now and i don't think that many people liked it anyways. The latest game that still bothered to support the Sixaxis was Killzone 3, they still make the players arm those bomb charges or interact with valves using the Sixaxis. Why? I have no idea.

The added RTS elements to call certain buildings into the fight is somewhat unique and is said to change the tide of battle. Not sure what to say about calling buildings to fall from the sky on a fast-paced third person shooter but it's too soon to judge with so little info about it. Of course there will be multiplayer so i'm really curious on this comes out in the end.

Fallout: New Vegas: Honest Hearts trailer

"Shooting that with a pistol is not a good idea"

Remember me mentioning three Downloadable Content coming to New Vegas? no? well here's the first and they released a trailer for us to consume.

An expedition into the unspoiled wilderness of Utah's Zion National Park goes horribly wrong when your caravan is ambushed by a tribal raiding band. As you try to find a way back to the Mojave you become embroiled in a war between tribes and a conflict between a New Canaanite missionary and the mysterious Burned Man. In Honest Hearts, the decisions you make will determine the fate of Zion.

New terrain, new enemies, new weapons and perks are what to expect in Honest Hearts. It comes out on May 17 and if your interested to make your Fallout game much longer you'll have to cough up $9 or 800 Microsoft points.

Old World Blues is up next and will be out on June, after that will be Lonesome Road coming out on July. These DLC's will be released on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 simultaneously this time.

Dragon Ball: Game Project AGE Trailer

Apparently there is still a huge demand for Dragon Ball games. Even after more than a decade when the show ended, we are still seeing video games about the insane gold haired aliens who look like they use way too much hair gel.

As much as I love Dragon Ball and its games, I don't think we need another Tenkaichi style game. From what little game footage we actually see in the trailer, this looks to be another Raging Blast game only without the cartoony style cell shading. Really Namco Bandai? Can't think of another way to evolve the franchise?
