Takara Tomy A.R.T.S. Nintendo Controller Keychain Lights
A friend of mine posted a photo of a keychain shaped like a FamiCom controller that just had to have. Takara Tomy released a gashapon set that's part of their Takara Tomy A.R.T.S. line which is usually comprised of miniature figures of various game consoles. These are from the first part of their Nintendo Controller Light series.
Featuring the 1-P version of the Japanese FamiCom controller, a Super FamiCom controller, a Nintendo 64 controller and a Wiimote that comes in both white and black version. One of the buttons on the controllers, when pressed, illuminates either a red or orange colored LED.
I initially hard trouble finding gashapon machines that had these and when I did find some, they were already empty. Luckily, there's a machine in the Toys R' Us of Robinsons Galleria. They go for 2 tokens each (120php in total) and from my experience, the most common one is the 1-P FamiCom controller. There's a Part 2 set of Takara Tomy's Nintendo Controller Lights that will feature the 2-P FamiCom controller, a different form of the FamiCom controller that came out with the third body of the FamiCom, an indigo colored Gamecube controller, and Wiimotes that come in white and red.

Mega Man/Rockman Keychains from Gashapon World
I was finally able to complete this set of Mega Man keychains the other day. If we can't get any new Mega Man games, at least we can still get some new merch of them.
Released in Japan on February 2015. These little cuties come from one of those Gashapon capsule machines found in some toy stores which made trying to complete a set a challenge. I initially got the original Mega Man from a friend who just got back from his vacation to Japan. Seeing that they a keychain of each lead Mega Man, I was bummed at the thought of not being able to get a Megaman.EXE figure since he was my favorite of the Mega men.
After a random drop by my local Toy Kingdom, I decided to take a look at the gashapon isle since I found out that they had some Gaia Memories on sale. Lo and behold, they had one machine filled with these Mega Man keychains. I had a change to get them all but it was a challenge since they go for a hefty 3 token a pop with each token costing 60php. My hope quickly fell back into despair as that machine ran out after around 2 weeks and at that point I was only able to get X and the Yellow Devil. Good thing the Toys R Us at the next mall also had a Mega Man filled machine handy but was near empty.
After 2 duplicate original Mega Mans and 3 spare Yellow Devils, I was finally able to complete the set with the last one I got being the first one I wanted, Megaman.EXE. You could say it was fate. Or I could just have terrible luck.

Samurai Jack: The Amulet of Time
Cartoon licenced games don't tend to be good, mediocre at best, but there are some that when looked at closely and buffed just a little bit turn out to be gems. Samurai Jack: The Amulet of Time is one of them. A GBA (Gameboy Advance) game with a bit of RPG and Metroidvania elements and controls that require you to be cautious with your actions. Samurai Jack: The Amulet of Time is a fun little side scroller that's very true to the show. Watch as I jump into Aku's twisted future and try to find a way back to the past.

A dark secret behind the assist trophy?
Has anyone ever noticed how creepy the assist trophy looks in the new Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and for WiiU?
Assist trophies are an item in the Super Smash Bros. series starting from Brawl and also appearing on Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for WiiU and would summon a random characters from vairous video games. I'm not saying there's a creepy pasta going around about the assist trophy because as we all know, Smash Bros. is played out by a child's imagination using toys and action figures of various Nintendo characters and then some but compared to the assist trophy item design in brawl, the one for SSB4 looks a tad scary.
In Brawl, the assist trophy looked like an action figure in a small glass display case. In SSB4, instead of an action figure of a non-descript toned male in a dynamic stance, they opted for what looks like a ethereal deformed child with blank white eyes. Like something out of the side scrolling puzzle platformer, Limbo.
Could this be a representation of one of the developer's or possibly Sakurai's thoughts, doubts or feelings during the development of Super Smash Bros. 4? Happy halloween, guys.
Recent Buys: Episode 33 - Super Smashsona Ultimax 3DS: Ultra Suplex Bros.
Another long gap since the last Recent Buys but it is October and a bunch of games that I'm excited for are starting to come out.
To kick off October, it started with the release of Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS. I've been a nut for the Super Smash Bros. since I got to play the N64 release at a friend's house when I was in the United States on vacation back in the day. That got me to decide on getting a Gamecube instead of a PS2 just for Super Smash Bros. Melee and then got a Wii in anticipation for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I'm planning to eventually get a WiiU but for now, the 3DS version should hold me off until then.
The pre-order bonus for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS came with a poster, a lanyard and a tumbler. Nothing really special but who would turn down some freebies? I also pre-ordered the game before they announced that it would come with bonuses. Apprantley I was second on the list of people who pre-ordered the game at the DataBlitz Shangrila branch.
Next up is another fighting game that I've been excited for all year. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, the sequel to the first Persona 4 Arena. The original Japanese title alone is already a good reason to get it, Persona 4 Ultimax: Ultra Suplex Hold. And hey, the game itself is pretty darn good too. I went and got the Region All version which came with a pack of tarot cards from the Persona series and an inflatable bop bag of Teddie. The cards are pretty neat, being larger and printed on a thicker card back than I expected and coated with a nice gloss finish. As awesome as they are, I personally have no interest in the cards but got them anyway because a friend of mine wants them. The bop bag is shorter than your standard bop bag but looks pretty good and has a port underneath that you can fill with water or something to weight it down.
That's it for this episode of Recent Buys. I'd make more but I haven't bought a gaming related thing more than one at a time lately. If you want to see what other crap I've been buying, follow me on instagram. http://instagram.com/kingmigoy#
