Video Games Coming Out In January 2017

Happy New Year! 2017 is finally here, so let's get a heads up on what will be coming out on the first month of the year.

Night In The Woods (PC, PS4) - January 10

Night In The Woods is a 2D platformer focused on story and exploration.  You play as a cat named Mae, who comes back from college to his home town and finds that things have changed. It was first announced as a Kickstarter campaign and reached its goal in just 26 hours.

Gravity Rush 2 (PS4) - January 20

Gravity Rush 2 is just a few weeks away. You play as Kat yet again, a Gravity Shifter, with the ability to manipulate gravity, providing a unique way to navigate through the world. Gravity Rush 2 picks up where the original left off. If you need a refresher, Gravity Rush Remastered has already hit the PS4.

Urban Empire (PC) - January 20

Kalypso Games (Tropico series) is releasing another city builder, but this time it's focused on a single city's grown in a span of two centuries with you as mayor. There will be heavy politics, dynasties to maintain, and technologies to consider as you grow your town.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS) - January 20

This 3DS port of a PlayStation 2 classic is looking good. New features include new story content, full voice acting, new playable characters, more quests, Street Pass functionality, and an alternate ending. A game worth revisiting, and for those that haven't -- you should give this one a go.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (PS4) - January 24

Well, more Kingdom Hearts is never a bad idea. If you are itching for the release of Kingdom Hearts 3, this will be a good distraction and a good refresher since the story is quite broad. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue includes an HD remaster of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, as well as two new pieces of content to the series -- Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover and Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (PS4, Xbox One, PC) - January 24

The next entry in the Resident Evil series -- this is a big one. Will it really bring back what made the series so great? Capcom is going with a First Person perspective this time but features that make Resident Evil. Puzzles, awkward shooting, enemies that won't stay dead, and of course the scary atmosphere. The PS4 version will have PS VR support, just a heads up if you want to really immerse yourself when it comes out later this month.

Tales of Berseria (PS4, PC) - January 24

Yet another entry to the Tales Of JRPG series. If you've played the previous games in the past, then you have an idea on what you're getting into. Berseria is the sixteenth entry to the Tales Of series and will continue to have the tradition features as well as the art style and animation.

Yakuza 0 (PS4) - January 24

If you plan to start on the Yakuza series, this is what you should tackle first. It's the prequel to the Yakuza series and it's an open world game if you remember Shenmue. You can do whatever in this game -- you can play Pachinko, go Karaoke, play video games, or beat up people with flashy moves. We even have an on-going primer to celebrate the release of a new Yakuza right here. It's a deep story in the crazy Yakuza underworld and if this fits your alley there's a whole series of games out there waiting for you.

Disgaea 2 PC (PC) - January 30

Yet another great port to consider. This is a PlayStation 2 tactical role-playing game classic that has a curious charm to it. Characters (especially Prinny) are full of personality and the the difficulty in itself will always leave you thinking a couple of steps ahead in order to succeed. It's coming to Steam and will also have Mac and Linux support.
